Tom Holroyd’s passion for writing began at an early age, writing in school competitions. After a childhood spent travelling and a subsequent career in the British Army, he used his experiences as inspiration for his stories.
Tom has a background in the arts, having studied Medieval History, Classical Civilisation and English Literature at school and then Archaeology at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. During his time in the Army he has written numerous articles for Regimental Journals and Army publications.
Tom has a keen interest in history, particularly the classical and early medieval periods and tends to read novels set in these eras. He is a prolific reader of science fiction and fantasy novels as well as historical fiction and has often been described by friends and family as a closet geek. His favourite authors are Bernard Cornwall, Simon Scarrow, Conn Igulden, George RR Martin, Raymond E Feist, J.R.R. Tolkien, Dan Abnett and he enjoys most books from the worlds of Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000. Tom is also a keen follower of international relations, current affairs and politics and weaves these themes into his stories where he can.
Tom has been creating stories and new worlds for as long as he can remember. He has been working on his stories in between work, military exercises and deployments for over nine years and finds it a relaxing distraction from day to day work and the pressures of a hectic job.
Tom loves writing and hopes that you enjoy his stories as much as he enjoyed writing them.
